Thin glimmering metallic leaves have successfully budded from their metallic base. Soft curves of the leaves make an interesting contrast with their sharp-cut base. They resemble wild orchids that are flaunting their liveliness and strength.

The form of this sculpture is not what you could easily anticipate in metallic objects. Though metal essentially comes from nature, when we see metal, we often conjure up an image of human civilization, industrialization, stillness, and artificiality. By playing with the material that clashes with its own “identity,” I attempted to make a humorous depiction of a frame of nature that is full of life and motion.

In this sculpture, I captured a moment of life discovered haphazardly by the viewers. With an energy that almost seems like it will sway with the wind, this artifact wears the disguise of an organic product, wittily trying to deceive the viewers. I used a plasma cutter, grinders, a MIG welder, a Beverly shear, and a hammer to sculpt.
